You and your partner can register for online games up to 2 hours before game time, but please do so at least 15 minutes beforehand so the director can set up the game for the correct number of tables.  If you haven't played in one of the Mid-Valley games before, register early to make sure you are set to play.  You may log off after you register but be logged on and ready to play 10 minutes before game time. NOTE: If you are playing in the Casual Area, BBO will consider you off line and you will not be notified when the game begins.

Please put your real name in your profile. It makes the game more friendly. Also, please make sure your convention card(s) are filled in as completely as possible to save you and your opponents’ time.

Both Albany and Corvallis face to face games require proof of vaccination.  For more information, contact Bob Peery (rapid35@comcast.net) about the Albany games and Mavis Tuten (kmtuten@comcast.net) for the Corvallis games.

Attendance

We had very respectable table counts at our two games last week – 10 tables Monday night, 10 tables in the Thursday afternoon open, and 3 tables in the Thursday afternoon 299er. Thanks to all of you who continue to enjoy our games.

Chance for Gold This Week

Stardust Week is this week, so our usual Monday night and Thursday afternoon games will be 2X master points with 25% gold. All you non-life masters--here is your chance to score some of the difficult-to-get gold points. Don’t forget that next Sunday, August 1, we will have a special 2-section game with an open and a 499er section.  The game begins at 1pm.

Other Online Games in the Valley

Eugene -- Emerald Bridge Club in Eugene is now offering a 9:35 am open game in conjunction with their 299er game. Eugene also has games on Monday morning at 9:30 and Wednesday night at 6:30. If you have not played in any online Eugene games, you will need to be added to their player list. Please contact Don Marsh (donmarsh45@comcast,net) or Sherri Morgan (sherri_morgan@comcast.net).

McMinnville -- Oak Valley-Salem has started a weekly online game on Tuesdays at 6:30. This online game replaces McMinnville’s pre-pandemic Tuesday game since the club no longer has a place to play at night. On BBO, the game shows up under the name “Oak Valley” up to 2 hours before gametime. Entry fee is $4.00.  Anyone who played in a game in Salem or McMinnville in 2019 or after is included in the Oak Valley player list. If you have not played in a Salem or McMinnville game but would like to play in this online game, contact Steve Drew (stevedrew111@frontier.com).

Albany and Corvallis Clubs Now Open for Face-to-Face Games
Albany to Hold Team Games in 5th-Week Games

Both Albany and Corvallis clubs are open with their regular in-person games. Check out the schedule at Albany-Corvallis Bridge Game Schedules (acbridge.org). Both clubs require proof of vaccination. The Albany club will hold team games on every 5th Monday and 5th Thursday.  For more information, contact Bob Peery (rapid35@comcast.net) about the Albany games and Mavis Tuten (kmtuten@comcast.net) for the Corvallis games.

Some Helpful Hints

MIS-CLICKS
There is a good article on mis-clicks and mis-bids in the October 2020 edition of the Bridge Bulletin.  I highly recommend that everyone read it.

PARTS OF YOUR SCREEN ARE BLOCKED OR HIDDEN
If you are finding that you sometimes cannot see the entire board or portions of the screen, you can usually fix it by quickly logging off and logging back in which usually takes only 10-15 seconds.  You usually do NOT have to reboot your PC or tablet.

CLAIMING TRICKS
A reminder about claiming tricks: Do NOT claim until the current trick is finished unless you know you are going to win that trick.  Otherwise you will be claiming a trick that you would have otherwise lost.

Please register at least 15 minutes before game time so the director can set up the game for the correct number of tables.

Sign up anytime after 2 hours before game time. If you haven't played in one of the Mid-Valley games before, register early to make sure you are set to play.  You may log off after you register but be logged on and ready to play 10 minutes before game time. If you are playing in the Casual Area, BBO will consider you as off line. To find the game go to [Virtual Clubs] [ACBL -North America]. Games are listed by minutes until start time but there is a search box in the upper right where you can just type "mid" and it usually finds our game right away.

Please put your real name in your profile. It makes the game more friendly. Also, we strongly suggest you and your partner fill out a convention card in BBO. If you have questions, here is a really nice tutorial.
